The table below contains more information regarding the indicator.
| Goal | Goal 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation |
|---|---|
| Target | Target 9.4: By 2030, upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with increased resource-use efficiency and greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes, with all countries taking action in accordance with their respective capabilities |
| Indicator | Indicator 9.4.1: CO2 emission per unit of value added |
| Definition and concepts | This indicator measures the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions intensity relative to Canada’s economic activity. A decreasing trend would mean that less GHG emissions are emitted for one unit of GDP. |
| Comment and limitations | This is a proxy indicator. Greenhouse gas emissions per unit of GDP are calculated using real inflation-adjusted GDP values expressed in Canadian dollars at constant 2017 prices, whereas the UN Global metadata specifies the use of constant US dollars. |
| Method of computation | Data were readily available to report on this indicator as specified by the national metadata. Please refer to the sources to access additional information on the metadata or source. |
